Start with the branch's real risk profile
No two branches have the same exposure. A high-street site with extended opening hours, an external cash machine and a busy public entrance faces different threats from a corporate banking office or a branch within a shopping centre. Site layout, local incident history, staffing model, cash handling routines and the age of the building should all inform the design.
A practical assessment should map how people, cash, keys and sensitive materials move through the premises. Camera placement must also respect privacy and purpose. The objective is not to monitor every movement of staff without cause. It is to protect people, investigate incidents and maintain clear accountability in areas where risk justifies surveillance. Retention settings, user permissions and evidential image quality should be agreed before commissioning, not after an incident.
Detect intrusion early and create a credible response
An intrusion alarm is most effective when it is aligned with the building's operating routine. Separate alarm zones can help distinguish an issue at a perimeter from activity within a cash or secure storage area.
Alarm signalling, monitoring arrangements and escalation procedures deserve the same attention as detector selection.
